It’s been a busy start to the second semester for the Clear Creek FFA members! With Proficiency and State Degree Applications being submitted, team practices in full swing, and students gearing up for FFA Week festivities in late February.
As part of this momentum into the spring semester, our Marketing Plan CDE team recently toured the Cross E Dairy Store in Sheridan, WY, gaining valuable, real-world insight into agricultural marketing and business operations. A special thank you to owner Christine Hampshire and School Board Chair Karis Prusak for sharing their knowledge and perspective with our students, and to coach Ashlea Bassett for leading this experience.
Alongside this experience, we had chapter officers — Wyatt Holland (Sentinel), Tessa Anderson (Reporter), and Brindle Vineyard (Parliamentarian) — who shared the accomplishments and progress our chapter has made so far this year on the Sheridan County Ag Update with Liz Kincaid at Sheridan Media.
✨ Stay tuned for their upcoming publication highlighting! ✨

IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE:
The Recalibration Listening Session is now on Tuesday, February 3rd.
The Recalibration Listening Session is now on Tuesday, February 3rd.

Today was a special day for our 5th graders! After reading The River Between Us, students got to experience some of the Southern foods mentioned in the book. A huge thank you to Mr. Rohrer for cooking up an incredible spread of jambalaya, collard greens, fried okra, hush puppies, and beignets for dessert!
He also shared how each dish is made and talked about traditional foods from New Orleans. It was delicious, engaging, and an amazing way to bring reading to life!

I had the opportunity to provide testimony to the Recalibration Committee during their final two days of meetings in support of our district—just as I have at every committee meeting and professional judgment panel throughout this process.
We made some progress this week, and that matters. But the work is not finished.
I encourage you to read this article and then join us to learn more about:
• What recalibration means for our district
• How it could impact students, staff, and programs
• How you can still influence the final bill
• How and when to provide public comment going forward
📅 Please note: Our Board Listening Session has moved
🗓 February 3
⏰ 6:00 PM
Your voice matters in this process. I hope to see you there.

The 3rd-6th grades worked on teamwork today in ACES. They built free standing spaceships out of materials provided. The challenge asked each team to build the tallest one without it falling over!

Our 5th graders kicked off their new reading module this week, all about Word Play!
The 5th-grade students will be diving into figurative language, puns, exploded moments, and learning how to use their voice to engage an audience.
What better way to see word play in action than by watching Abbott and Costello’s classic “Who’s on First?” skit? ⚾😂 It took them a little while, but they were able to identify the players and their positions and analyze why the skit is both hilarious and an effective way to play with language.
If you haven’t seen the skit, be sure to check it out!

Last week, during the hustle and bustle, our students slowed down a bit to spend time visiting Sugarland Ridge, the VA medical center, Buffalo Senior Center and the VA retirement home, sharing smiles, conversations, and plenty of holiday cheer. During a season that’s all about giving, these visits were a reminder that kindness and connection are some of the greatest gifts we can offer.
By listening, learning, and honoring those who came before us, our students truly embodied the spirit of the holidays.
