Beginning March 1, we are excited to participate in Wy Read Together, a statewide reading initiative that encourages families to spend time reading together and celebrating those shared moments. Reading together helps build confidence, connection, and a lifelong love of learning. Even a few minutes a day makes a difference. Students who participate will receive a special reward through a community partnership as a thank you for sharing their reading moment.

How Your Family Can Participate
• Spend time reading together with your child. This can be a book, magazine, comic, recipe, or anything you enjoy reading together.
• Take a photo or short video of that shared reading moment.
• Submit your photo or video using the Wy Read Together online form.

Important Details
- The campaign runs during March.
- All types of reading count.
- Participation is optional and meant to be fun and simple.

Details, printable reading logs, reading Bingo cards, and more fun resources are available through this link:

Panther Community:

Earlier this week, school leadership met with a group of Clearmont community members to discuss the future of our K–12 library and to develop a clear, sustainable path forward. We appreciate the constructive spirit of that conversation and the shared commitment to strengthening literacy support and access for our students.

Moving forward, we are building a school-owned library collection designed to directly support student learning and instructional needs. This work includes reviewing previously owned SCSD#3 books, thoughtfully curating appropriate existing materials, and developing a school-created list of titles aligned with curriculum, student interest, and age appropriateness. We will accept monetary donations to support the purchase of new books and will also welcome new book donations when they align with the school-created list to ensure quality and consistency. In addition to community support, the district is committing to a planned investment of $6,000 per year for the next three years to strengthen and expand the collection. Our team will continue collaborating with community members both in resource procurement and in operational planning to ensure the library reflects student needs and community values.

Beyond building the collection itself, our goal is to create meaningful, structured literacy access within the school day. For elementary students, we will work to incorporate a designated weekly library time—at least 30 minutes per week—into next year’s master schedule. During that time, students would learn how the library is organized, practice locating materials, explore texts independently, and check out books to take home. For older students, we intend to designate time during the school day when a staff member or trained adult is available to assist with navigating library resources, locating coursework-aligned materials, and using the space for research or quiet reading.

Staffing assignments will depend on other building responsibilities, and these adjustments will require careful coordination. Implementation will not be immediate, but we will make a deliberate effort to incorporate these changes into next year’s master schedule in a way that is realistic and sustainable.

We will continue our partnership with the Sheridan County Public Library and maintain a rotating collection of 50–100 high-interest titles at Clearmont. Students will continue to have the ability to check out books through our school library, access public library materials housed within our building, visit the Clearmont Branch, and request books from libraries across the state. This partnership significantly expands the reading opportunities available to our students.

In addition, we will establish a “Free Library” at the school for students, staff, and community members. Books not catalogued into the formal school collection will be available on a take-one, leave-one basis, and we will continue building this offering over time. Beginning this year, we also commit to providing at least one annual literacy engagement opportunity for students, such as a school-sponsored book fair or a field trip to a larger community or regional library. The format may vary each year based on logistics and available resources.

Our focus is clear: building a strong, sustainable library resource that supports literacy growth, expands access to books, and provides meaningful learning opportunities for Clearmont students. We are grateful to the community members who have engaged in this process and look forward to continuing this work together.

We Want Your Input!

Our Life Skills Committee has been hard at work identifying the skills every SCSD3 student should have to succeed after graduation—like leadership, problem-solving, confidence, communication, and goal setting.

After reviewing several curriculum options, the committee is recommending Leader in Me, a K–12 program from FranklinCovey that builds leadership, accountability, and collaboration, with strong connections to CTE and family involvement.

5th & 6th grades continue to work on teamwork today in ACES class. They built marshmallow/toothpick towers that they had designed. They had to include the use of squares and triangles in the tower, problem solve and then finish up with the "test "to see if the tower was the tallest in the room and could stand for at least 10 seconds. They did a great job!
